How La Capital's channel outshines culinary giants worldwide.

If you know us well, you probably also know we have mad respect for Doña Angela, the woman behind De Mi Rancho a Tu Cocina. Telling her story back in 2022 earned us a spot in the top three charts of the year on Reddit.

But two years ago, we overlooked another giant when we searched for the world's most prominent chefs on YouTube. Just like Doña Angela, he has more views than world-renowned personalities like Gordon Ramsay, Martha Stewart, and Joshua Weissman.

Our legend's name is Oscar Meza, and he is from Torreón, Mexico. His channel, La Capital, doesn't just outperform; it eclipses everyone we could find who cooks for a living on YouTube. His videos amass an impressive 2.3M+ views on average per video. Gordon Ramsay would have to multiply his views by 20x or find 20 other Gordons to match that.

Oscar is truly a master in the kitchen, and it seems like there's no dish he will shy away from. His most popular videos include preparing birria, sushi, and mango habanero hot wings.

The fact that perhaps the most famous chef on YouTube is from Mexico speaks volumes on the "soft power" of the country's culinary richness, as well as the appetite for tacos that the rest of the world has. We don't know about you, but tacos al pastor sound great to us right about now.

Note: there's no comprehensive list of the most-viewed cooking channels. We did our best to compile people globally and from Latin America. If we missed someone, let us know!
