Multi-panel chart comparing the top multinational companies to work for in LatAm from 2019-2023, showing DHL consistently ranks first | Sources: Great Place To Work, Latinometrics

There's a publication, greatplacetowork.com, that, through employee surveys, compiles different rankings of companies that are considered highly desirable work environments. It's worth noting that companies must submit an application (which includes a payment) to be considered.

For Latin America, in the category of multinational firms, DHL has been the clear winner over the past five years. What made it earn this title?

"Shipping and logistics behemoth DHL Express ... [stands] out for, among other things, including employees in decision-making that impacts them. DHL boasts its bold policy, which it refers to as 'leading with head, heart and guts.'"

The above quote tells us that people deeply care about being part of the overall decision-making of an organization. We want to be involved and aware of the general direction our team or company takes to feel like we're a meaningful part of a whole.

As Latin America continues to evolve into an essential source of highly-skilled talent, it will be vital for companies to foster work environments that align with the interests and needs of their employees.

Those who only come to LatAm to turn a profit and see its people as nothing more than numbers on a spreadsheet will likely turn away disappointed with the results.

As for DHL (and probably many of the other companies on our chart), it seeks to expand further into Latin America as the region becomes a critical player in worldwide logistics. A few months ago, the company announced a $500M+ investment to that effect.
